Life Drawing 101:
This course is for students who want to explore the fundamentals of observational drawing in order to further strengthen their developing artistic vision and self-expression. Course content ranges from capturing the human body in motion, learning how to accurately perceive light, color and shadow, to learning how to create a believable scene using scale and perspective. The goal is to provide the student with different observational “tools” and techniques that can assist in demystifying the process of drawing people, places or things.

Concepts studied may take 1-3 weeks depending on the level of difficulty. Beginner and advanced students are equally welcome, as the concepts explored are not scaled by difficulty, but by self-motivation and refinement. Students can join in at any point in the year, as there is no prerequisite necessary. However, attending in sequence according to the concepts explored is highly recommended but not required. Please see the Art Calendar for more information on upcoming projects.

ART EXPLORER
This course is for students who are interested in exploring a broad range of drawing and painting material via project based objectives. Each project will feature a new technique or material, with project ideas inspired by the works of famous artists and art movements, to ideas found on Instagram and Pinterest. Beginner and advanced students are equally welcome, as the project can be scaled up or down in difficulty depending on the student’s skill level, prior experience and interests.

Project completion ranges from 1-3 weeks depending on the materials used and techniques employed. Students can join in at any point in the year, as there is no prerequisite necessary. Attending in sequence according to the project explored is recommended but not required. Please see the School of Art Calendar for more information and scheduling of upcoming projects.
