Apologia General Science
Grade Level: 6th, 7th, 8th
Time: 1:30 pm - 3:00 PM
This course is designed to be a student's first systematic introduction to the sciences. The course covers such topics as the scientific method, designing experiments, simple machines, archaeology, geology, paleontology, biology, human anatomy, and physiology. Experiments will be conducted in class and students will learn skills to record their findings accurately. They will also prepare written reports throughout the year and at the end of the year, students will choose a topic to explore further and will have the opportunity to share their knowledge with the class by giving an oral presentation. Each student will learn how to prepare a written outline, and learn the skills needed to give an oral presentation and to be a part of a good listening audience. These are valuable skills that will be used throughout their education.
