Course Description:

This course is an introduction to the biology class your child will take in high school. What better place than Florida to study Botany? Florida is a tropical oasis to study flowers, seeds, fruit trees, spores on a fern, orchids, live oaks, and coconut palms.

This study will get the kids outdoors, with classroom activities that include: looking at vascular and nonvascular plants under the microscope, growing seeds, dissecting flowers, modeling flowers from clay, pressing flowers, making leaf rubbings, making skeleton leaves, forcing open pine cones, making terrariums from coke bottles, making arbor day posters, clay impressions and more. This groundwork is the scientific study of plants, which is used in the study of many aspects of human life.

The bible speaks of seeds 254 times, the tree 169 times, and plants 41 times. Think of the Parable of the Four Soils, the Fruits of the Spirit, tree in the Garden of Life, the Burning Bush and the Fig Tree. This study will also expand your understanding of God's word.
