LEGO Robotics Engineering I
Grade: Level: 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th
Time: 9:00 am to 10:00 am
Programming is an important part of 21st-century learning. In this introductory robotics course, elementary students will use their creativity and teamwork to design, create, and build LEGO® robots that are programmed to complete tasks by using IPads. Each class will promote experiences in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (S.T.E.M.) using LEGO® in an interactive, hands-on way.
The curriculum we use facilitates and supports a clear, easy-to-follow journey through subjects, including life-, physical-, earth- and space sciences, and engineering. The software we use provides an excellent platform for science learning, offering an innovative way for students to model reality, conduct investigations, and use design skills. Utilizing Ipads, the software also teaches programming in an intuitive way – letting students bring their LEGO creations to life while sharpening computational thinking skills like logical reasoning, pattern recognition, and modeling simulations. In addition, the software features a colorful drag and drop interface that is easy for students to use and understand.
Parental Involvement: As this is an interactive, hands-on lab, all the robotics missions/activities will be completed during class time. Parents will be required to make sure the lesson pages are read before each class from the textbook. Weekly assignments include textbook readings.
Lab Technology fee: $35
Curriculum: Included in Lab fee (HomeLink provides)
