English II Description:
English II: Grades 9-12th
Pre-requisite: Successful completion of the Homelink English I course.
The English II course, intended for high-school students in the 9th-12th grade span, builds upon the foundation in close reading and expository writing established in English I. This subsequent course focuses on the critical analysis of an argument, literary interpretation, and argument-based writing. Using the IEW Windows to the World book, as well as the collection effective examples of argumentation and American literary masterpieces, students will practice the writing of critical analysis and creative interpretation as they relate to both argument and literature, respectively. In addition to the literacy and rhetorical aims notes above, students will continue to enrich their lexicon and further hone their command of prescriptive grammar.
