English I: Grades 9-12

The English I course, intended for high-school students in the 9-10 grade span, focuses on the close reading and interpretation of literary works, informative and historical texts, as well as on the development of expository writing. Using the IEW Windows to the World: An Introduction to Literary Analysis text, in addition to a collection of culturally and historically relevant informational texts, students will hone writing skills such as description, summary, cause and effect, and explanation of process while enriching their own lexicon and writer’s skill set.
