Sewing Class I & II

Times: 2:30 PM - 3:30 PM
In Sewing Class I students will be oriented to the essential skills needed to learn to sew.  They will learn hand sewing and then be introduced to sewing with a machine. They will learn basic stitches and different tasks that can be done using the machine. Students will learn to read a pattern and do some fun projects. 
In Sewing Class II students will continue to master their skills on the sewing machine.  They will continue to work on buttonholes and fasteners, darts, hems, zippers, gathering and attaching sleeves.  Students will learn to read more complexed patterns and will be introduced to hand making patterns.  They will also learn about the history of fabrics and learn to tell the differences.  They will have the opportunity to develop resourcefulness by re-purposing clothing and fabrics into other items.  
Textbook: Basic Sewing Essentials 101 DK. 
The cost of the textbook varies between $5 - $8 and is dependent on if it is purchased used or new.  The textbook is an optional purchase.
